Daniel Holbach
Developer Relations & Community Consultant
What I do
I help technology companies build and grow developer communities and open source programs — combining strategic guidance with hands-on execution where it matters.
With 15+ years in developer relations and community management, I work with organisations that want to build a serious OSS presence, grow their developer community, or navigate the CNCF ecosystem. I consult at a focused capacity of around two days per week, in English and German.
Selected work
Weaveworks (2018–2023)
Led Flux through the full CNCF graduation process — community governance, OSS license review, security audits, adopter base. Owned developer relations across Flux, Cortex, Scope, and Kured.
Canonical (2005–2016)
Nearly a decade growing the Ubuntu developer and contributor community — one of the largest open source communities in the world. Contributor onboarding, developer experience, team leadership, global events.
How I work
I take on a small number of focused engagements at a time — roughly two days per week. I’m not the right fit for someone who needs a full-time hire, but I’m a good fit if you need senior experience applied to a specific challenge: building a community program, defining OSS strategy, navigating an ecosystem process, or improving developer experience.
