Yesterday we watched “Berlin am Meer” – not a world-changing, but nice movie filmed in Berlin. As in all other modern movies which happen to be shot in Berlin, I enjoy the sensation of recognising where the scene happened (“Nice, that’s like 5 minutes from here.” or “We’ve been at that spot last weekend.”) The movie did not disappoint us in that regard, lots of scenes were shot in Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain and Treptow.
In addition to that, I was pleased to see they used Ubuntu in a short scene. (The supposed best friend of the leading character copies files from his laptop without him knowing.)

(There’s no “In Popular Culture” section on the Ubuntu article yet……

Man that ROCKS! How cool.
I miss you guys and Ubuntu so much! Was great going through your blog now and catching up on who is doing what. I love your enthusiasm, you make everything sounds so exciting.
I also love seeing movies shot in places I have visited. It’s pretty awesome.
Keep smiling.

Wow, that’s awesome!

Not trying to troll, but is there anyone here who leaves the default background and theme for their every day *buntu distro? I have to switch from the chocolate background to something else almost immediately upon install.
I like the default themes and mostly stuck to them.
I can’t wait for the day that this isn’t special anymore
I was in Dresden 1 week ago and also surprisingly found out in a hostel that they were using Ubuntu for each PC.

This summer I attended the Sziget Music Festival in Budapest Hungary. Among the many stages, bars and other stuff they had a huge internet tent for visitors with over 100 PC’s.
All running Ubuntu. It looked pretty awsome!
